The photo album "Legendary Targovska Street in 100 historical photographs" makes a detailed visual presentation of the evolution of one of the main streets in Old Sofia. It represents the lost pulse of a city that once breathed with the rhythm of Europe.
The street is one of the most significant and memorable arteries of the city during the period of the Third Bulgarian State (1878-1944). Its history traces the transition from an Ottoman town to a modern European city street and reflects the social, economic and cultural changes in the Bulgarian capital.
"Targovska" Street remains the "lost street" in the history of Sofia - a symbol of an intercultural commercial core and of an era marked by European modernization and rapid political changes. Its spirit with its lively cafes and shops and architectural masterpieces is preserved only in the archival photos and memories of Sofians. Today, few urban elements remind of the cultural-historical and architectural significance of the old city center.
